First Holy Communion

A quieter family day yesterday as we had a 7 year old receiving her first communion. It was a blessed day. The homily seemed to be preached just for her as she was the only first communicant in the church. She had carried her baptismal candle onto the altar before Mass began and he referenced the light of Christ that she continued to carry in her soul. The church is filled with beautiful teaching stained glass windows which he referenced for the Father (his right hand with three rays), the Son (a triumphant and haloed lamb) and the Holy Spirit (a dove).
With her godmother.

And the family cake that we had with our "second breakfast". A request was made for a lemon cake with a cross on top.

On a side note: The rest of the morning the boy in our family was going around the house blessing it with "holy" water. He had made his own sprillium from a pine tree branch. I am noticing drip marks on many of the walls! The baby in the family continues to practice receiving the body of Christ. Even for breakfast she held up a kernel of cereal and said "Gee-Gee Amen". This HAS been a great day for the whole family.
