The Dining Room

Although this house has an eat in kitchen, we always eat in the large dining room for meals. At the beginning of the school year, I decided we needed a motto. Maybe more for me than the kids. I took a quote from St Francis de Sales and cut it out of black construction paper.

"Never be in a hurry, do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not loose your inner peace for anything whatsoever even if your whole seems upset. "
Then with hubbys help, I (using the picture hanger beam) taped them up over the "thing" that stores dishes and things.

Each month I have some kind of display below that relates to the month. It's all about seeds in October. I have included A Seed is Sleepy by Dianna Aston, A Diary of an Edwardian Lady, Around the Year by Elsa Beskow and the Tale of Squirrel Nutkin by Beatrix Potter.
I also put up on a wipe off marker board any special announcement of the day...such as a person we will visit or the Saint of the Day.
