Home management: how many outfits do you REALLY need?

With a sense of realistic-ness and poverty, I realize that we don't need lots of clothes, but we do need practical, comfortable and helpful clothes! I have begun to get rid of things that don't meet those needs, both for myself and for the kids.

All the kids need at least two outfits for church and several play outfits. We don't have need for uniforms here (thank goodness!) although there might be some ease if they wore the same thing day after day. I am working on cutting back on my outfits for I find about three things over and over are what I wear comfortably. I only really need a few pair of comfy pants.

I've begun to feel the same way about shoes. When there are six pairs of feet in the house, even two pairs of shoes each begin to make this momma crazy with always picking up. This sure has helped over the past year! So now I have one pair of shoes that are dressy, one for hiking and one pair of boots (that I have yet to wear). The same for the kids. One dressy, one fancy, one pair of boots.

Now socks....whew another crazy thing. where do they go? I have begun to by 3 packs of socks for the kids. That way when one is lost...no problem. I've also gone to only buying smart wool socks for myself. And only about six pairs are really needed. (remember I do a load of laundry everyday!)

more on storage to come...
