St. Nicholas of Myra

At our past parish a retired man would fill the children's shoes during Mass in honor of St. Nicholas each year. When we moved several years ago the children were saddened by the change and missed the tradition. This year we asked our current pastor if we could be the "saint nick". It was great fun for all of us to prepare. We purchased stickers from the St.Nicholas Center. The secretary ran a crossword puzzle from the site in the bulletin and we took along our icons of the Bishop of Myra for display. We filled the shoes with stickers, bookmarks, chocolate coins and clementines.

We also took a visit to a favorite church where St. Nicholas takes a prominant place on the iconostasis.

And of course 'St. Nicholas' visited our home. He even brought things for mommy and daddy! The children enjoyed putting some things together for us in the real spirit of it all.
