I am reading a whole stack of the same books every night to a darling two year old. (err two-a-haff year old in her words) Just a week ago I was struggling to get her down with her awful cold each night, that I love her desire for me to read and read. and read.
This is what she brings to the bed. Jamberry by Degen (this has been a long loved book in our family), Mr. Brown can moo by Dr. Suess (my grandma used to read this one to me), a Swedish animal book with no words in English, Learning your Letters, The lady with the alligator purse, the carrot seed by Ruth Krause and Around the year by Elsa Beskow.
It might take me a lot of time to read all these books, but the joy of seeing her roll over and go sweetly off to sleep at the end is worth all the time I put in. I would much rather put the time in doing positive things rather than returning to a crying child that couldn't get to sleep.
