Animated 4 year old preschooler wanted to do "sewing" this year. And that she has done. First day of school found her sewing at grandmas. Near the end of the week her little dolly was getting stuffed with wool. Perhaps we will have a whole family of dolls by end of term with this rate of enthusiasm.
Snap Circuits are a great way to let them learn on their own. The favorite quick make is the flying saucer.
I just can't find a shutter speed on my camera to catch it....
We've gone to climbing the walls in between independent work. Or when mom is slow on the suggestions.
One thousand bead chain. This was the beginning of our family math concepts time. We are doing a family math twice a week besides each child doing their independent math. We also did some body math this week. I forgot to take pictures of them measuring themselves and doing comparisons of sizes.
More than half way through Geometry. Wow. This is fun stuff.
By the end of the week the weather had changed! After being in the upper 80's for several days, the 60's for two days felt very cold. I found these bundled girls practicing together.
Our science read aloud was best shared on the couch in blankets. They just couldn't pull out enough sweatshirts and socks to adjust to the temperature change.

Trip to the Apple Orchard (actually second trip this season!)

The orchard has some neat little painted cut outs this year. Isn't this one fun with my little baskets of cheeky apples? (watch out for young drivers)
We found a dove. Very young and in distress. We gave it care until it passed.
The boy was much concerned about the puppy getting it's paws on the bird. It was quite a scene.
What did I learn this week?
We can get it all done in four mornings.
20 minute lessons do work.
The timer is my friend.
I prefer to have more food ideas on hand then to create.
My kids like a greater variety of lunch meals. (and no we didn't have pb and j once!)
A daughter that goes to the high school for band makes you feel old.
It's okay to say no to things that deplete the teacher.
