So we began a year long tree study with this school year.  It's been quite eye opening to see how different trees can be...and HOW MANY leaves they can drop.

Tree measurements were in order last week and recorded in the nature notebooks we keep.  Each child measured their tree up from the base to a specific height and then measured the circumfernce at that height.  Both numbers were recorded.  I hope to have us retake these measurements next year to see what changes have occured.  One child's tree was more than 8 feet in circumference!  They will determine the diameter of their trees next week.

We also hope to do some height measurements using shadows and estimations.  (see we are doing Math during science!  Fun!)
