In our old yard we had...
10 trees.
one Buckeye.
one Birch.
Two maples. (one red and one silver).
Four Bluespruce.
One Walnut.
One Hickory.
NOW...well we haven't counted.
Mainly.
After I got to 10 mature oaks and one birch and sixteen maples just from looking near the house...I quit counting.
So the kids each picked a tree to follow.
They will draw it each season for the coming year to get a good perspective on their kind of tree.
A nine-year-old picked an Oak. Can't even wrap his arms around it.
Highschooler picked a Plum tree. Made tiny little yellow plums this year.
11 year old picked an Oak as well.
6 year old wanted the Red Maple.
and lil preschooler says he wants this Japanese Maple.
So we will see how this study goes. Mom picked the Birch, but didn't take a photo of herself...yet.
